The Galway Community Sponsorship Group sponsors the arrival of students from a refugee background residing outside the European Union to come to Ireland through a safe and legal pathway. The group comes together, fundraises, and supports the students in their arrival to foster integration. Our project focuses on resettlement through education .
Our aim is to redistribute the world's refugee population in a more equitable way, and create sustainable solutions for refugees, who can seize opportunities to become self-reliant and independent.
We coordinate with the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency in Ireland, Nasc, the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre, and the University of Galway.
Is training provided?: Yes
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
* Help fundraise
*Attend meetings whether online or in person
Skills required for this role:
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong organisational skills
Flexibility
Any previous experience in fundraising is helpful
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Depends, but 1 hour per week at most
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
