Description

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children is Ireland's leading arts festival for children and it takes place in Galway every year in October. Dates for 2024 are 11 to 20 October. Baboró aims to create a space for children to enjoy with their schools and families. The festival offers a space where children are put first as the doors of Galway’s theatres, galleries and public spaces are thrown open for their exploration and play.

Baboró’s mission is to inspire children to engage with the world through their experience of the creative arts. To create spaces where children can deepen their understanding of themselves, the perspectives of others and the world around them.

Volunteers are an integral part of Baboró as they help bring the festival to life as well as help create an extraordinary experience for children and families alike.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

We recruit a large number of volunteers to assist with the running of the festival. Festival Volunteers provide essential support to the Stewards and Front of House Managers, while also greeting and assisting incoming audiences.The main role is ushering at venues, welcoming guests and assisting stewards with welcoming school groups and families.

Skills required for this role:

No major skills are required however previous experience working with children is a benefit; we are looking for friendly, caring and enthusiastic people who are committed to help ensure children, their families and schools have a positive and magical experience during the festival.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Shifts are mostly in the morning and in the afternoons with some family events in the evenings and at the weekend. Dates are 11 to 20 October. Schedules will be personalised according to the volunteer's availability.

Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
