UL AccessCampus is based in the LEDP (www.ledp.ie) in Roxboro', Limerick city.

At AccessCampus we offer English language classes for members of the displaced Ukrainian community. To further enhance their language development we have set up a Conversation Club with the intention of creating an informal environment in which those attending can engage in topics of interest to them, or they can simply attend and observe and engage when they feel confident in doing so. 

The focus is on creating a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere which allows the participants to enage at a pae that suits themselves.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Volunteers will be expected to attend on a regular basis and to engage in a relaxed and encouraging manner with others attending. An ability to stimulatye conversation or share interesting stories or facts is helpful.

Skills required for this role:

Sociable, patience, humour, critical thinking and an ability to be socially aware and to guide conversation away from topics which may cause upset or irritation.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
The Club is offered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon between 3pm and 5pm.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
We would like to meet with potential volunteers for an initial screening conversation, to give more detail and start the induction process.
