A St. Patrick’s Day Parade Steward plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and safe running of the parade. The main responsibilities include; crowd control, assisting participants, and ensuring safety. Stewards help manage spectator areas, prevent overcrowding, and direct people to designated areas and maintaining the correct order and following the parade route properly.
Communication is key, as stewards provide information to the public, answer questions, and report any safety concerns to supervisors. They also help enforce event rules, manage restricted areas, and assist in emergency situations by directing medical or security personnel when needed.
Parade stewards must remain alert, approachable, and professional throughout the event. Their efforts contribute to a safe and enjoyable experience for both participants and spectators, making them an essential part of the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Skills required for this role:
A St. Patrick’s Day Parade Steward needs a range of skills to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone. Strong communication skills are essential for giving clear instructions to spectators, participants, and fellow stewards. Crowd management skills help maintain order, prevent overcrowding, and ensure smooth movement.
Stewards must be alert and observant, quickly identifying potential hazards or safety concerns. Problem-solving skills are useful in handling unexpected situations. A good steward remains calm under pressure and follows emergency procedures effectively.
Interpersonal skills, including friendliness and approachability, are key for assisting the public and answering questions. Teamwork is also crucial, as stewards work closely with security, emergency services, and event organizers.
Finally, physical stamina is important, as the role often involves standing or walking for long periods. With these skills, stewards help create a safe and enjoyable parade experience for all.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Stewards are required at 8.30am March 17th
Minimum time commitment per week:
8 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
Applicants must be at the event on time and commit to remaining focused on safety for the duration of the day.
All applicants will be a part of the entire St Patrick's Day event including lunch after party in the Market.
