Description

Limerick Mental Health Assoication supports adults in their mental health journeys. We do this by offering pratical support, counselling, peer support, signposting, wellness and recovery programmes and social activities. We rely on fundraising to fund our services as they are free to the public. We have recently been offered the tender from the HSE to operate a Solace Cafe in Limerick.

The LMHA Solace Café is a vital community resource that will provide out-of-hours mental health support to individuals in need. Our mission is to create a welcoming/ safe none judgemental environment where people can find one to one support and qualified peer support during challenging times. This cafe will open from Thursday to Sunday, 6pm to midnight.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

provide a listening ear,

creating a safe space,

signposting individuals to long-term support services tailored to their needs

  • The Solace Café will be a comfortable, friendly, non judgemental and safe space for visitors.

  • It will offer a listening ear, cups of tea/coffee, and a place to gather thoughts and seek support.

  • Visitors can connect with others who have faced similar experiences or sit and read a book in peace.

  • The café will be open to the community, emphasising inclusivity, understanding and empathy.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Thursday to Sunday evenings

Minimum time commitment per week:
4 hour p/week
