Description

There are 14 active Scout Groups in County Limerick, 3 of which are based in Limerick City!

All of these Groups need new, young leaders to allow children and teenagers attend weekly meetings where they develop & grow through the Scout Method.

Scouting Ireland will provide training and opportunities to new leaders to learn new skills such as kayaking, mountaineering, first aid and many more.

We need young adults living in Limerick City to attend one evening meeting per week and to help out on a weekend activity or camp once every two to three months.

The initial training requirement is a mandatory course that takes place in-person on a Saturday/Sunday.  All training costs are covered.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Help to plan, organise and run weekly meetings for Youth Members in a Section of their choice;

Beavers: Age 6 to 8

Cubs: Age 9 to 11

Scouts: Age 12 to 15

Using games & learning-by-doing you can help youth members learn first aid, camping skills, cooking, shelter buidling, kayaking, map & compass etc, etc

No prerequiste skills required.

Scouting belives in Learning-by-doing and that applies to our Adult Leaders as much as to our Youth Members.  We find a Skill that everyone wants to learn and the training will be provided for the adults who will pass it on to the youth members.
