Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
1. Facilitating Activities: Organizing and leading engaging programs and activities that promote personal development, teamwork, and social skills among young people.
2. Creating a Safe Environment: Ensuring a safe and inclusive space for all participants, where they feel valued and respected.
3. Building Relationships: Developing positive relationships with young people, fostering trust and open communication.
4. Supporting Development: Encouraging the personal and social development of youth members, helping them to set and achieve goals.
5. Promoting Participation: Actively involving young people in decision-making processes and encouraging their participation in club activities.
6. Training and Mentoring: Providing guidance and support to young members, helping them to develop leadership skills and confidence.
7. Communication: Keeping open lines of communication with parents, guardians, and the wider community about club activities and events.
8. Adhering to Policies: Following Foróige’s policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
9. Reporting and Feedback: Providing feedback to Foróige club development officer and participating in evaluations to improve club activities and programs.
10. Encouraging Volunteerism: Inspiring young people to engage in community service and volunteer opportunities outside the club.
Skills required for this role:
1. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young people, parents, and other volunteers. Active listening is also crucial.
2. Interpersonal Skills: Building positive relationships with youth members and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
3. Leadership Skills: Guiding and motivating young people, encouraging them to participate and take on leadership roles themselves.
4. Organizational Skills: Planning and organizing activities, events, and programs efficiently, while managing time effectively.
5. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address challenges and conflicts that may arise within the group, finding constructive solutions.
6. Empathy and Understanding: Being sensitive to the needs and feelings of young people, and providing support and encouragement.
7. Teamwork: Collaborating with other volunteers and staff to create a cohesive and effective team environment.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Evenings between 6:30pm - 9pm for two hours
Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
