Accompaniment Support Services for Children (A.S.S.C)

Requirements:Minimum age is 22. Excellent English is necessary.
We offer emotional and practical support when these young people who have to attend court or forensic examination as the result of witnessing or experiencing a crime. We accompany them on their journey through the judicial system as a way to lessen the impact of the process.
We look for kindness and empathy in our volunteers, as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality. The volunteer role is offfering a listening ear, making a cup of tea, playing with a young person, anything which reduces the trauma.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
We operate a rota system for both court and forensic. Although we ask that you set aside 4 hours each week, the reality is that if there is neither a court or forensic accompaniment taking place at your chosen time, you will not be called.
The Court closes for Christmas, easter and summer. Forensic is open all year.
Minimum time commitment per week:
4 hour p/week
