Description

Hygiene Hub is recruiting volunteers to join Local Hubs in Dublin, Cork or Galway as Donation Coordinators. This is an important role that will ensure hygiene products are collected from our supporters and distributed on a regular basis to our Community Partners.

We are looking for people to take on this role who are available between the hours of 9am-5pm, or someone who has flexibility throughout their week, and who has access to a car to deliver hygiene items. Volunteering as a Donation Coordinator is a flexible volunteer opportunity that often can fit around other responsibilities. Donation Coordinators should be go-getters who can take initiative and work as a team. 

We are also looking who can support the Local Hub's with some social media posting, responding to queries and sharing posts from the main page.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

We are looking for reliable volunteers who are happy to:

  • Engaging with a local business or businesses to set up a new Drop Off Point. This is where the general public can donate hygiene items,

  • Liaising with the local business manager to collect the products as necessary, ensuring the box never overflows,

  • Delivering hygiene items to our Community Partners who are charities and community groups working to support people facing hygiene poverty,

  • Logging the kilogram weight of each collection and delivery onto our online form,

  • Joining online and in person meetings to discuss future deliveries and upcoming events,

  • Staying in regular contact with fellow volunteers and reporting back to the local Hub Coordinator.

Donation Coordinators are supported directly by the Hub Coordinator and the other volunteers around them.

Skills required for this role:

Donation Coordinators must have the following essential skills:

  • Passionate about tackling hygiene poverty

  • Align with Hygiene Hub’s values of Collaborative, Compassionate, Inclusive, Resourceful and Rooted in Community

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Take initiative and pick up tasks quickly and effectively

  • Work  well with a wider team across the organisation

 

Donation Coordinators may also the following desirable skills:

  • Access to a car during 9-5 weekday hours

  • Experience of volunteering elsewhere

  • Experience of following budgets

  • Experience in managing social media or communications

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Volunteering with Hygiene Hub is flexible around other commitments, deliveries happen at times that suit you. We hold monthly meetings online or in person, and there are opportunities throughout the year for in-person check-ins, events and socials.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
