Description

We have Sporting & Cultural Events at weekends starting from May 2024 - October 2024, and Volunteers make these Events happen.

Wide variety of Events:

Swimming, Pitch & Putt, Indoor Sports from Basketball to Volleyball to Badminton, Table Tennis, Futsal, Spikeball, Handball, Throwball Rounders, to Team sports; Hurling, Camogie, Gaelic football, Outdoor Soccer Rugby Tag, Skittles, Cycling on Grass, Gymnastics and Athletics Track & Field. Also, The Cultural Weekend, from Art to Handwriting to Model Making, Solo Singing, Dancing, Recitation, Singing, Music, Choir, Culture Corner, Projects, Quizzes, Chess and Draughts.

Every Volunteer has something to offer to our events, from being a Steward to a Ticket Checker to an Indoor assistant with the children to an outdoor warm-up assistant with the kids to a Chess Organiser to a Quiz Master to a Music Judge or a Dancing Judge to a Model Making Leader to a Sports Coach or a GAA Referee the list and roles are varied but the most important of all are the children enjoying the events and having fun and all about participation rather than winning, and Volunteers can make this happen.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Volunteers for our Events would each have a Specific Role which the Volunteer would have informed us which Event & Role they would like to undertake: 

Example for our Swimming Event, we require:

Poolside Stewarts, Poolside Judges, Poolside Referee, Changing Room Stewards, Poolside PA and Ticket Checking/Registration Area Stewards.

Pitch & Putt Stewarts & Assistants.

Cultural Events: For example Quiz we require: Quiz Master, Quiz Collectors and Scoreboard personnel and Debating & Projects personnel.

Art/Model Making: Co-Ordinators, Judges and Assistant Art & Model Making Personelle.

Choir and Music and Dancing Judges and assistants.

Chess and Draughts Co-ordinators and Assistants.

Hand Writing and Project Judges and Assistants.

Comedy & Drama Sketch Co-Ordinators and Judges.

Dance & Singing and Recitation Judges and Co-Ordinators.

General Car-Parking and Ticket-Checking Stewarts.

Athletics Events: Starter & End-Line Judges, Assembly & Warm-Up personnel, End-Line Camera, Relay & Lane Judges, Results Co-Ordinators & Assistants, Long Jump & High Jump Co-Ordinators & Assistants, Discus, Shot Putt, Long Puck, Ball Throw & Javelin Co-Ordinators & Assistants.

Indoor Team Events ie, Badminton, Handball, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Table Tennis, Futsal & Spikeball Co-Ordinators and Referees and Assistants for all these events.

Outdoor Events: Hurling, Camogie, Gaelic Football, Throw-Ball Rounders, Soccer, Tag Rugby, Mini Rugby

Cross-Country & Mixed Distance Relay & Marathon & Cycling On Grass Co-Ordinators & Assistants.

Skills required for this role:

No event would be possible without the help of volunteers, people that want to make a difference. If you’re one of those people, we want you on our team.

Our goal is simple: to bring together a team of highly talented, motivated and passionate volunteers who will help deliver a memorable event for our participants, their families and friends who join us. We, in return, will do everything possible to provide a fun and rewarding experience for you. 

Main Skills:

  • To have a positive attitude and a willingness to work 6/8 hours a day or longer, depending on the scheduling.
  • Wear a high-vis bib (so that people know you are volunteering with Community Games)
  • A basic understanding of Community Games
  • A willingness to help out where required 
  • To arrive on time, and if you cannot attend, please let us know! (By text or email)
  • And finally, a strong desire to get stuck in and have some fun!

 

What you will Receive in return: 

  • You will receive plenty of notice of your role and when you are needed. 
  • We will feed you while you’re with us.
  • We will provide you with a volunteer pack (rules, participant lists, schedule, and stationary).
  • You will be given the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends
  • We’ll give you the opportunity to make unforgettable memories. 

*Specific Skills will be required for some of our Events ie. E.g. For the Cultural Events, you will require prior knowledge & expertise in some areas, but all training will be delivered well in advance.

*Sporting Events and Athletics: All training will be provided for any Specific Role in advance, but prior knowledge and Expertise would be desirable.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
8am - 6/7pm approximately on Saturdays & Sundays but 3-4 hours any of the days will be of great assistance also. Saturdays and Sundays from May to October 2024 are when our Events are on and on those days we will require Volunteers from 8am to 6pm approximately but as stated previously any hours a volunteer can give to Community Games and children will be very much appreciated. Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
We will require Identification and, email and contact details to provide training & communication on an ongoing basis to our Volunteers regarding our Events. Also, we will be sending all information and training links etc., to your email addresses and contacts.
