Volunteering Spirit at UL – A Day of Giving Back

The University of Limerick is more than just an academic hub; it’s a community where students come together to make a difference. Recently, I had the opportunity to witness and document an inspiring student volunteering event organized by the Student Volunteering Office (SVO). 

A Day of Purpose 

Despite the chilly weather, student volunteers gathered at UL’s Sports Arena early in the morning, ready to contribute to the event’s success. Wearing bright orange and red vests, they worked tirelessly, setting up refreshment stations filled with bottled water, bananas, oranges, and energy bars for participants. The event saw students and community members uniting for a cause, demonstrating the true essence of teamwork and compassion. 

Behind the Scenes: The Effort that Makes It Happen 

From arranging supplies to ensuring participants had everything they needed, the volunteers took charge with enthusiasm. Some were engaged in cheering and guiding the runners, while others helped in logistics, ensuring a smooth flow of activities. 

The atmosphere was filled with energy and positivity, proving that volunteering is not just about giving back—it’s about growing together as a community. The event also saw participation from local residents, reinforcing UL’s strong bond with Limerick.
