The 1916 Bursary Fund is a targeted-funding scheme of the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to support the participation of underrepresented students in higher education. Applicants must be new entry students to first year of an eligible undergraduate programme in 2021/22. Applicants for the 2021/22 Bursaries in UL must enter through one of the following pathways:

University of Limerick (UL) encourages and supports the participation of mature students on all of its programmes. The UL40 Mature Student Scholarship offers financial assistance to adult learners commencing higher education on a full-time basis. The scheme is open to all first year mature students who meet the following criteria:
Meet both the nationality and residency criteria for the free fees initiative as set out by UL's Fees Office.
A first-time entrant to higher education i.e. has not previously achieved a third-level qualification.
Is not in receipt of any other bursary or scholarship.
