StudentVolunteer.ie believes student voice is important for the growth of student volunteering across Ireland to achieve our vision of every student having the opportunity to make an impact in community.
“We are thrilled to partner with NStEP in developing training for student volunteers to enhance how StudentVolunteer.ie centre student voice in our decision-making. NStEP are vastly experienced in enabling student voice, they are the experts in guiding higher education to meaningfully listen to the student experience,” said Lorraine Tansey, Student Volunteer Ireland Programme Manager.
“NStEP are proud to deliver training in partnership with StudentVolunteer.ie who are creating a vehicle for student voice in the governance of the organisation, and highlighting the importance of developing student leadership capabilities, ” said Niamh Kennedy, NStEP Programme Manager.
Our first ever Student Advisory Panel will ensure that students at UCD, TU Dublin, UCC, UL, and University of Galway have a direct impact on the growth and development of Student Volunteer Ireland (StudentVolunteer.ie).
Empowerment through Training
NStEP Workshop One will focus on enabling students to explore the “ladder of citizen participation” theory and the methods for providing feedback as a representative.
Workshop Two focuses on representing fellow students in decision-making especially representing diversity, and minority student experiences. This will be hosted at LinkedIn Community Space as part of a Conference Day to build skills and gain experience in reviewing and interpreting influential student volunteering policy, practices and governance documents, enhancing student skills in this area.
Empowerment through Action
The Student Advisory Panel role enriches student volunteers with a deeper understanding of being a volunteer manager designing positive volunteering projects, offering a valuable perspective on their opportunities and challenges.
Funding for the Student Advisory Panel is provided by the Irish Youth Foundation.
