StudentVolunteer.ie are excited to announce that we are one of the 18 recipients of the 2024 Coca-Cola #ThankYouFund!
We have been awarded just under €9000 within the pillar of #Learning #SustainableDevelopment for our project Empowering Student Voice in Sustainable Development Student Volunteering. For our project we will recruit, train and empower student volunteers to lead on a circular economy volunteering project at their university. The students will then have the opportunity to enhance Student Volunteer Ireland with their feedback, voice and understandings as Advisory Group members alongside community and voluntary groups.
"We are deeply committed to the Sustainable Development Goals through our engagement with student volunteers and the #ThankYouFund will elevate student knowledge of the goals as well as practical steps they can take to make impact towards sustainable futures. We are over to moon to partner and connect through this opportunity which will develop skills within students to take on the leadership roles in their communities and influence policy and decision-making," reflected Dr Lorraine Tansey, StudentVolunteer.ie Programme Manager.
Students from StudentVolunteer.ie partner HEIs - TU Dublin, UCD, UL, UCC and University of Galway - will undertake a series of training workshops and attend a national conference in Dublin. Through this process the students will learn how StudentVolunteer.ie enables university-community engagement for sustainablity and then have the opportunity to manage a group of their fellow student volunteers in an action project. This leadership experience will enable students to reflect on what works well, what needs improvement and what new ideas need to be explored. StudentVolunteer.ie will embrace the student voice and feedback from their experiences through the Student Advisory Panel, stregnthening and growing student volunteering initiatives across Ireland!
